Angeles Urban Forest Program - to raise the level of understanding of our
natural ecosystems within the Los Angeles Basin and to elevate a regard and

Sacramento: Parks and Recreation Department - Staff provides care and
maintenance support to more than 150,000 city street and park trees that
comprise our urban forest. They plant the right tree in the right spot; trim
and prune as needed to maintain health and resident safety; and remove
unhealthy, dangerous or fallen trees. Staff is trained to control insects and
disease, and inspect and protect heritage trees.

Urban Forestry Section - oversees the planting and maintenance of trees and
other vegetation along streets, sidewalks, and other City rights-of-way. The
program works closely with nonprofit organizations to increase the number of
trees in the City and help improve the quality of life.

committed to a policy of maintaining and expanding a diverse population of

City of Chicago: Bureau of Forestry - The Bureau of Forestry trims
Chicago's 500,000 parkway trees on a six-year cycle. It also coordinates the
planting of 5,000 new parkways trees each year, removes 7,000 dead or damaged
trees annually, grinds the wood from dead trees and branches into chips that
are sold or used on playgrounds and vacant lots, co-administers the City of
Chicago's Landscape Ordinance.

City of Augusta - Bureau of
Parks, Cemeteries and Trees is responsible for the maintenance and operation of
17 cemeteries covering 63 acres; 15 neighborhood parks, public grounds, city

Division of Forestry - Ohios Urban Forestry Program was created in
1979 within the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to promote trees and other

responsibility of the City of Salem Department of Community Services, Parks
Operations Division.
Pennsylvania

Harrisburg: Department of Parks & Recreation - The Bureau of Parks
Maintenance is directly responsible for the trimming of more than 50,000 shade
trees located between the sidewalk and the curb of city streets. The City
through a permit process does tree trimming for free. Tree removal is not
performed by the City, but a permit needs to be obtained before removing a tree
between the sidewalk and the curb.
